In the darkness of my sleep I fought him
Down he came towards me
From the black ghostlike trees
From the hills with so many footprints
That no one walks upon, except the caribou
The air is dead, a burning sky
A black shadow under the trees
Pouring down the mountainside
Consumes the ground under its wings
Hungering for lost souls
There it found me
In my sleep I had lost my way
Whithin the dwindling paths of my mind
I saw it approaching
I dreamt it came closer
I felt my bones turn to stone
My eyes fixed by his piercing fear
His wings around me
Shadow everywhere
The world fading into nothingness
A hopeless whisper
Nothing I could say would destroy him
But someone deep within the dark said no
You will release me
A sudden wakening
Still grabbed by the world of my dream
I realized I still had to fight
Something still grabbed my heart with an iron fist
His claws screaming for my soul
With every fibre in my muscles
With every last bit of my will
I fought him, my demon
Under my sealing, the burning sky
Between reality and subconscious
He cried for me to let him lead me
But I would not be a content fool
With bitterness over what could have been
So I fought him
Slowly the shadow crept back
Releasing my heart from his darkness
I demanded him never to return
He lied, he will
Whenever I forget my fear
The mountains will grow black
Poison dripping from the rocks
With no cure
A shadow in my thoughts
Building barriers in my mind
Killing my souls will
“And all that stands between the souls release
This temporary flesh and bone
We know that it’s over now
I feel my faded mind begin to roam
Everytime you fall
And everytime you try
Every foolish dream
And every compromise
Every word you spoke
And every thing you said
Everything you left me rambles in my head
…
Goodnight, travel well”
